I've started trying to write summaries before I write the story. It's kind of nice, I can keep the approximate summary within view as to what the ultimate goal of the fic is, a nice little synopsis of what was in my head at the start.
They change, of course. Maybe small edits, or maybe big ones. But that's okay too.
For my newest Johnlock:
When John Watson first moves into 221B, he brings with him a strange family heirloom.
Sherlock Holmes is a logical person; he's not particularly bothered by old dolls with flaked varnishes and cracked teeth. "Rosie" is a toddler-sized approximation of a human with a yellowed apron and dusty old parts. He can tolerate her presence in the flat for John's sake. Normal people have such strange sentiments, and Sherlock does his best not to judge John's.
Until that sentiment leads them down a crooked path of obscured truths, a family haunting, and a deluded personal narrative. But whose?
