I was not expecting to be writing a second long fic this year. I wrote The Killing Principle March thru May (ending at around 80,000 words), and told myself to write short fics for the rest of the year. Now here I am, 11 chapters & 33,000 words in, and halfway through the outline. We’ll see how the rest goes! Even if it’s just 65,000, I’m still counting it as a long fic. 😆

65K is not "just". It's definitely a longfic!

(honestly, I'm pretty proud of myself if a story hits over 30K).

I think you're right, I just see these people putting out these mammoth stories - and good on them! I think my sense of what's a long fic gets skewed.

I was actually trying to keep it short, but it's gotten out of hand of course. How's your latest coming along?
